Blanket fort building is an easy and fun activity for the whole family. It is a free activity and a few materials is all you need. Blankets or sheets, some pillows or cushions, chairs, tables or couches, or even an old cardboard box, Here, my grandson and I created a magical little space nestled between two chairs.
We named our structure, the Happy Family Castle.
The Castle was guarded and protected by a friendly "dragon".
Fort building is a valuable developmental activity for children to engage in. There is so much learning which takes place.
It takes planning, thinking and problem solving. It promotes cooperation and teamwork.
It is a great activity which fosters physical activity, creativity and using one's imagination. It can help build a child's confidence and sense of pride and satisfaction with building one's very own space.
It is a wonderful rainy day or any day activity for you and your little ones.
Have fun!
This activity provides so much learning and creativity, fine motor and imaginative thinking.
Gather the materials and present the loose parts such as paper towel rolls(cut in half) , paper staws (environmentally friendly than plastic staws) and a hole punch . Punch holes in the paper towel rolls . Ask your child what they can build and see their creavtivity roll .
This activity promotes critical thinking as the children are experimenting what they can build. This activity also encourages the children to think mathematically as they explore with the loose parts. Counting the paper roll, counting the staws, what shape can you make?
Using everyday interesting items from around your home, you can create your own toy basket for your child to play with.
This activity is from the Let's Play! Activities for families.
