Introduction to Theater / Drama B

Introductory Theater B emphasizes artistic perception and creative expression. It will promote an understanding of aesthetic valuing, historical and cultural awareness, and the interconnections of the arts and other disciplines. Students will be trained in the fundamental skills of the theatre arts, including improvisation techniques, body control, voice, diction, pantomime, learning of lines, creation of character, projection of ideas and emotions, and preparation and acting of scenes from plays. Instruction develops language skills and appreciation through reading dramatic literature from various periods and cultures and writing dramatic scenes. Theater Introduction SH B is a 5-credit course that fulfills the A-G requirement of the UC/CSU Subject Area Requirements.
