You will fly to Geneva on Monday morning and return to Heathrow on Friday evening. Students will need basic hiking equipment to include a hiking bag, walking poles, walking boots and suitable clothing. You will be staying in refuge huts at each stage of the trek.
A good degree of physical fitness is required as you will be hiking around 15-20km per day with elevation and descent. You will also be required to carry your pack in some sections. It will be a requirement that students attend a strength and conditioning session once per week alongside one endurance training per week in the summer term to ensure you are well prepared for the trip.
Itinerary below;
26 June - Arrive GVA. Transfer to Chamonix. Evening briefing
27 June - Public bus or train to Les Houches. Hike to Les Contamines.Â
28 June - Hike from Les Contamines to the Refuge du Col de la Croix de Bonhomme
29 June - Hike from Bonhomme to either Rifugio Elisabetta or Cabane du Combal
30 June - Hike to Courmayeur. Private minibuses back to Chamonix. Airport transfer from CHX to GVA
