After a smooth and uneventful journey across the Channel and through northern France, we arrived at our lovely little hostel in Maldegem. There was time before dinner to stretch legs and play football, cricket, basketball, ping pong and in the play area.
After dinner creativity was tested by an eco bin bag fashion show.
Beautiful Bruges was today’s destination. The students learned how delicious chocolate is made and why Belgian chocolate is so good (some of the students would have eaten their body weight in chocolate if allowed!). We saw the Madonna and the Child statues. The afternoon’s activity was the brave the 366 steps up to the Belfort or Bell Tower. Students did it in speedy times. The day was rounded off with some bowling.
The day started with learning about the history of the battle of Waterloo at the Memorial 1815. Students also climbed to the top of the Lion’s Mount and admired the view. Then we went to Brussels to look for statues of the Peeing Boy and Girl, the comic book street are AND waffles! The journey back to the hostel was somewhat exciting - the coach broke down!’ The students were incredibly patient while the driver sorted a replacement coach for us. Both the teachers and the driver would like to thank the students for their patience
Taking it a bit more easy today with Aqualibi water park and Walibi theme park. The weather forecast for today was 80-100% chance of rain. We were super lucky and it only started to rain as we were leaving the theme park! Last dinner and evening activity in the hostel
