Smooth day of travelling, long time spent on the coach. Arrived at accommodation and enjoyed our first French dinner. Free time exploring the grounds and playing football. Reasonably early night before our first day of activities tomorrow
After a breakfast of croissants, we set off for Mont San Michel. It was a lovely sunny day and we started off by climbing the steps up to the top of the mound for a visit to the abbey. We enjoyed some panoramic views and learning about the history of the building. After our picnic lunch, we’d some free time to explore before our hike back across the bay. Here we enjoyed walking through mud, sand and even having a play in some quicksand while our guide told us all about the history of the bay. Then it was back to our accommodation for some more free time and another delicious dinner!
Today was jam packed with activities and the sun was shining which helped us all set off in a good mood. First up was a mix of orienteering, kayaking and archery where we competed against one another in groups. This was followed by another picnic lunch and some France v England football, before we split up again to have a go at some more kayaking and a hike and sketch activity. Everyone enjoyed the chance to get wet and to have a go sliding down various obstacles both in their kayak and on their own!
After more croissants for breakfast, we set for our first activity of the day which was high wires. Everyone enjoyed exploring the treetops on the high wires and zip wires and having a chance to see the Normandy scenery from a different angle. Everyone got stuck in and we all conquered our fear of heights! After lunch we travelled to the British Second World War memorial where we spent some time looking at the names and thinking about the history of Normandy. Then it was on to the beach for an ice cream, some free time and our last activity for today - land yachting!
Today was a chocolate croissant for breakfast day, these provided lots of energy for all of our activities on our last day. First up was our Market Challenge. Here we had to find the prices of various market items and the translations of different bits of food related vocabulary. After this, we were given money with which to buy our picnic lunch using our new linguistic skills. We took our bounteous ingredients back to the park to make our picnic and we enjoyed the fruits of our labours. A brief downpour didn’t dampen spirits and we all enjoyed the second of our activities Vélorail - a ride on a disused railway line through the Normandy countryside powered by our own pedalling - a great way to burn off some energy and enjoy the scenery. It’s a BBQ for tea tonight before an early night and our early start back for England tomorrow morning!
