By this point of the design process the final design would be selected. Here the objective is to create a sketch of what the final design would look like. Make sure to include specific numbers and dimensions while creating the sketch so when it comes to building the actual prototype, everything is neat and accurate. In addition, include the names of the materials that are going to be used in the final design by labeling the part in the sketch. When it comes to sketching it is important to follow the following techniques: fill the envelope, make it proportional and clear and straight lines.
CDs: 7.5" diameter
Mouse trap: 2" x 3.75"
Pool cue: 9" long
Marshmallow stick: 10" long
Pen: 1" x 0.25"
Balsa wood (base) 8" x 3"
Balsa wood (back) 7.5" long
Balsa wood (tires) 1" x 1"
I chose my design because it is light weight and has a long enough arm which would allow the car to move further. The unique choice of using a pen to allow the marshmallow sticks to spin freely enabled the mouse trap to use the shoe lace to spin the marshmallow sticks. Since the CDs were hot glued onto the marshmallow sticks, it should be able to spin rapidly. The 1" x 1" square of balsa wood on each side of the tires should enable the car's ability to go in a straight line while maintaining a decent speed.
