This Google website teaches students about the basics of coding. Google CS is short for Google Computer Science. Anyone can access google cs but there are certain features called clubs. Clubs are almost like groups that someone can join to take a course and learn new features about coding. For this project, our teacher made a group and the students of his class joined. They were able to create their own group and lesson for his students to learn.
Scratch is a website used to make animations using coding. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology designed scratch to be a fun and educational way to learn how to code. There are different projects and lessons that are able to be tried. Each lesson teaches a different topic about coding. Most importantly this website allows students to make their own animations for free.
The objective of the assignment was to create an animation using the scratch website. There were supposed to be two sprites. A sprite is a character in an animation. The class had to create a knock-knock joke using coding.
In the scratch project I decided to do something different. I made one sprite talk to the audience and tell a cheesy joke. To begin the animation it is important that it is started by clicking the green flag up on top of the animation screen. There is a code block that will make it so when that green flag is clicked the animation starts. After that there are code blocks that are available to make a sprite say words in a word bubble. There are different options to be able to move the sprites around. To make an animation seem even cooler there is an option where a voice over can be added. The voice over is of the persons voice working on the project.
