During the school year in my AP world history class, the class was assigned to create a presentation about one invention made during the First Industrial Revolution. The First Industrial Revolution began in the eighteenth century and began in Britain. The Industrial Revolution was the time period where factories and businesses used new manufacturing processes to create new inventions and businesses. While this period of construction was occurring an intelligent man named Eli Whitney invented the Cotton Gin
Eli Whitney was born on December 8, 1765 and died on January 8, 1825. He was an American who invented the Cotton Gin back in 1793. He was born and raised in Massachusetts but then later moved and lived in Connecticut for the remainder of his life. Eli Whitney was very skilled when it came down to engineering because he had added new ways to improve the cotton gin so it keeps on getting even better
This was definitely one of the best and easiest projects throughout the year. This was nice because the students were allowed to pick whatever invention they wanted. The coolest thing that I learned while researching about the Cotton Gin is that you'd think that with a Cotton Gin it would decrease the number of slaves back then. But instead it increased them. I saw that to be really interesting and different.
