Q. Summarise what you did in this activity/project and how you interacted with others?
A. For this activity, my school's Social and Environment Experience Department (SEED) organised a SEED Garden where I along with my other classmates got the opportunity to volunteer for various activities such as weeding, gardening and painting for two weeks.
Q. Explain what you hoped to accomplish through this activity/project?
A. Through this activity I hoped to gain some hands on experience in Outdoor Agricultural Learning. Gardening is something that not only helps my physic but also helps people connect with nature which is what I intended on doing so, I wanted to provide my contribution towards something that will help the natural environment community.
Q. How successful were you in achieving your goals? What difficulties did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
A. I think I was successful in accomplishing my goals. Initially I found the process quite tiring and difficult, especially the part where I had to dig holes, the holes were dug either too small or too big, thus I had to keep digging again and again. Additionally, some of my classmates did not do it out of interest and they made many mistakes that I had to keep correcting, which was time consuming.
Q. What did you learn about yourself and others through this activity/project?What abilities, attitudes, and values have you developed?
A. Definitely the most important skill I learned here was gardening, I did not realise I would have as much fun as I did. Additionally, I also developed my teamwork skills, every time my teammate was just sitting around and not doing anything I got frustrated, but I realised that we are all here to learn together and gain some hands on gardening experience, so I tried to be patient and worked together with the my teammates and we corrected each of our mistakes together.
Q. How did this activity/project benefit others?
A. I think this will benefit the Kodi community as a whole. The vegetables that we helped to grow will be used by the people living there and since they are organic, it will have a positive impact on the health of the people. Not only did this activity benefit the people but also the environment, since of course planting and growing plants helps to reduce carbon emissions.
Q. How can you apply what you have learned in other life situations?
A. One major skill I have picked through this activity is cooperation and teamwork. In life there will definitely be many situations where I will meet people who might not carry out tasks tin he same way I would, thus I will try to remain patient as well as cooperate with the other person and understand their methods and ideas as well.
