Q. Summarise what you did in this activity/project and how you interacted with others?
A. I went running with plans to improve my track performance significantly. I went running every day for the past month to achieve this goal. At first, my goal was to improve my stamina so I could carry sprints for longer distances and ultimately go faster. I did this by jogging long distances for two weeks. For the next two weeks I gradually increased pace and the length of my sessions until I was finally able to increase the length of my strides and the endurance of my posture and stamina.
Q. Explain what you hoped to accomplish through this activity/project?
A. Physically, I was accomplished increasing my track speed and my stamina. I able to get into the groove of running after a month of continuous running. Due to this I was able to improve my posture and breathing as well which in turn improved my lung capacity and respiration. Mentally, I was able to improve my attitude and my resolve, as the first few days of running was extremely difficult and painful. It helped me improve my focus and confidence in my ability to complete a goal when I set it.
Q. How successful were you in achieving your goals? What difficulties did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
A. The first few days of running was extremely difficult as it had been a long while since I ran or did any extensive cardiovascular exercises so it was an incredibly tough challenge to motivate myself to go day after day despite the fatigue and pain. I was able to overcome this hurdle by staying motivated through inspirational videos and keeping alarms to wake up in the early hours of the day.
Q. What did you learn about yourself and others through this activity/project?What abilities, attitudes, and values have you developed?
A. I developed confidence and determination in knowing that I could accomplish a goal I set for myself if I put enough effort into it. I have also developed a better attitude in terms of planning out a goal and executing the steps required to do it. For example, during the month of running I had to make sure to eat accordingly to the number of calories I burned so I measured my calorie intake and made a chart to maximise the amount of nutrition I gained from the food I consumed.
Q. How did this activity/project benefit others?
A. It was solo activity, It didn’t really benefited others than me.
Q. How can you apply what you have learned in other life situations?
A. The skills I learnt from this undertaking will benefit me throughout my life. Learning my own limits and breaking those limits to go further is something that has given me a great deal of confidence and assurance in my abilities. Aside from this, exercise is also vital to maintaining good health and as I continue to follow this routine I have no doubt that it will benefit me greatly in keeping me fit and active as well as healthy.
