Q. Summarise what you did in this activity/project and how you interacted with others?
A. My school's Social and Environment Experience Department (SEED) organised a SEED Garden for this activity, where I and my fellow classmates were able to volunteer for various duties such as planting and cleaning painting for the day.
Q. Explain what you hoped to accomplish through this activity/project?
A. I planned to obtain hands-on experience in Outdoor Agricultural Learning by participating in this programme. Gardening not only benefits my physical health, but it also helps others connect with nature, which is what I meant to achieve; I wanted to contribute to something that will benefit the natural environment community.
Q. How successful were you in achieving your goals? What difficulties did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
A. I believe I was effective in achieving my objectives. Initially, I found the procedure to be rather exhausting and challenging, particularly the part when I had to dig holes; the holes were either too little or too large, so I had to repeat digging over and over again. Furthermore, several of my pupils did not participate out of curiosity, and they made numerous errors that I had to constantly correct, which was time consuming.
Q. What did you learn about yourself and others through this activity/project?What abilities, attitudes, and values have you developed?
A.Gardening was undoubtedly the most crucial skill I learnt here; I had no idea I would have as much pleasure as I did. Furthermore, I improved my teamwork skills. I became frustrated whenever my teammate was just sitting around and doing nothing, but I realised that we are all here to learn together and gain some hands-on gardening experience, so I tried to be patient and worked together with my teammates, and we corrected each other's mistakes together.
Q. How did this activity/project benefit others?
A. This, I believe, will benefit the Kodi community as a whole. The veggies that we assisted in growing will be consumed by the people that live there, and because they are organic, they will have a good influence on their health. This action benefited not only the people, but also the environment, because planting and growing plants, of course, helps to minimise carbon emissions.
Q. How can you apply what you have learned in other life situations?
A. Cooperation and collaboration are two important skills I've learned from this endeavour. There will undoubtedly be numerous circumstances in my life when I will encounter people who do not carry out jobs in the same manner as I do, therefore I will attempt to be patient while also cooperating with the other person and understanding their techniques and thoughts.
