How to deal with stress over the Coronavirus

  • Create a routine — Change out of your pajamas, shower and try to make a schedule of what you want your days to look like. Children thrive on routine and once a schedule is provided sometimes there are less behaviors.

  • Break up your day — Find tasks to break up your day to help you change what you are looking at, doing or thinking about.

  • Self Care — Get plenty of sleep, exercise, eat as healthy as you can and use relaxation strategies (ex. breathing, listening to music, mindfulness).

  • Think about or help others — Find ways to support those in need even through phone calls, going to grocery store or sending a note.

  • Stay connected — Stay in touch with colleagues, friends and family via phone calls, texts, social media and video conferencing.

  • Limit news and social media — Limit your news and social media intake to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes all you hear is negative and then it just feeds anxiety and worry.

  • Focus on the positives — What good is happening in your day? In the world around us?

  • Take one day at a time — Sometimes it helps to think ONLY about the next moment or few minutes in time to stay calm.

Please know, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
