HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Wishing all of our Florence Elementary School moms a wonderful mother's day!  Thank you for all that you do to love and serve your children!  May your day be filled with love, joy, and appreciation for all that you do and all that you are!

Mrs. Brandel's Message

Dear Falcon Families,

Celebration and appreciation are the themes of this week!  Our students have been completing their End of the Year MAP testing and I am blown away by their hard work throughout this year.  I have had the pleasure of celebrating with our students, teachers, and their parents some major individual growth accomplishments with many of our students today. It is truly is the highlight of my day and of my job to see the sparkle in a child's eye when they feel proud of their work and they recognize the success they have had!  All of this is supported and facilitated by our incredible teachers and staff who have been and felt so loved this week!  We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of appreciation that has been shown not just this week with the notes, gifts, flowers, meals, treats, and extra hugs, but that is shown by the FES family year round!  Thank you, PTA, for the delicous meals and treats that you provided this week!

We appreciate the partnership and love that our teachers have with our families and all of that results in the success of our students! Thank you, for taking the time to share your love on our teachers and staff this week!  Your appreciation was much appreciated by everyone!

Next week is our last five day week of the year and we look forward to celebrating a phenomenal year together during our Mayfest day on Friday!

Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

In Falcon Spirit!

HIGHLIGHTING THE TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE AT FLORENCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

1st Grade Living Things

We have baby chicks!  As a part of 1st grade's science unit of living things, they have been observing eggs in the incubator.  This week, the chicks all began pecking their way out and hatched!  They are now moving around, eating, and playing together.  Studnets have observed and shared in this exciting view of the life cycle!

FES Author Visit to the Library

Our 1st 2nd and 3rd grade students LOVED hearing all about Bluebonnet's adventures during the visit from author Mrs. Mary Brooke Casad!  She talked to the students about being an author, illustrator, and shared her stories with the students. Thank you, Mrs. Kelly Roberts and Mrs. Stephanie O'Dell for organizing and facilitating this opportunity for our students!

4th Grade BCI Tour

On Thursday, our 4th grade students took a trip to Bear Creek Intermediate School where they participated in a tour of the school, had a Q&A session, practiced opening a locker using a combination, and had a preview of what life will be like in fifth grade!  They were excited about their next chapter and represented FES well!

New Kindergarten Student Orientation

On Thursday, we welcomed our 24-25 school year kindergarten students to our building for an introduction, to meet our teachers and to tour the school!  Welcome to our newest Florence Falcon Families!

Reminders:

Guest Check-in:

We invite parents to join us as volunteers or spectators at the event!  Upon arrival, please check in at the gate located just in front of the north playground (next to the library entrance) to receive your visitor sticker.  If you have not previously checked in on raptor, you will need to check in through the front office.

Adult Restrooms:

Adults may not use the student restrooms. Adults may use restrooms that are designated for adult use.  Please ask a staff member for guidance to the closest located restroom.

Lunch Time:

All students will be having lunch at the same time this year.  Your teacher will confirm the lunch location for your child's grade level. Parents are welcomed to bring your own lunch and tp enjoy with your child in their lunch location.

Student Early Check-Out:

While we encourage our students to stay for the entirety of the day, as there are many fun activities, if you would like to check out your child before the end of the school day, you will do so with your child's homeroom teacher and they will sign them out.

End of the year Awards Ceremonies

May 21- EOY Award Celebrations (Kinder 8:00 AM, 1st Grade 9:15 AM)

May 22- EOY Award Celebrations (2nd Grade 8:00 AM, 3rd Grade 9:15 AM)

May 23- EOY Award Celebration/Clap Out (4th Grade 9:30 AM)

During the final week of school, we look forward to celebrating our students on their accomplishments this year.  Parents are invited to join us for the ceremony where each student will be called up on stage to receive their recognition envelope.

Guest Check-in:

We invite parents to join us as we celebrate the end of the school year! Upon arrival, please check in with your government issued ID at the front door to receive your visitor sticker.  If you have not previously checked in on raptor, you will need to check in through the front office.

Due to capacity and to ensure that students are able to participate in their class activities, FES student siblings of other grade levels may only attend their own assembly, with the exception of the fourth grade assembly and clap out.

Student Attendance on Awards Assembly Days:

Please note- any student who is checked out before 9:55 AM will be considered absent for the day. We encourage you to keep your child at school for the remainder of the day as there are still end of the year class activities and tasks to complete as a part of the final week of school!  If you do wish to check out your child after the awards ceremony on Tuesday or Wednesday, you will need to do so through the front office.  We appreciate your patience, as we must process each check out one at a time through Raptor due to the time of day.

Fourth Grade Students and Siblings Only If you wish for the sibling(s) of your fourth grade student to join the fourth grade awards ceremony and clap out, please complete the form that will be sent out via email to fourth grade families next week to indicate your 4th grade student check-out and sibling participation preferences.

Lost and found

Parents, please have your student check lost and found for any unclaimed and/or lost items. Our lost and found area has outgrown its capacity. You are encouraged to come and check the lost and found as well, to help your students reclaim their favorite sweater, stuffy, jacket, hair band, water bottle, bracelet, shoes and much much more! Announcing the 2024-2025 PTA Reflections theme, "Accepting Imperfection," coming this fall!  So much beauty can be found in life's imperfections, and we can't wait to see how this theme inspires our kids as they show their creativity through music, dance, film, photography, literature, and visual arts.

“'Accepting Imperfection’ is a reminder to myself that mistakes are welcome because they are a part of being human. Our flaws are as much a part of us as our strengths, so being imperfect should be perfect enough for us.” (Paige Opaska, Texas 8th grader and theme winner)
