A Special Message from Mrs. Bowen
Dear Florence Families,
I wanted to share with you that after 31 years in education, I will be retiring this May. The first 10 years were spent in my hometown of Fort Worth, and the last 21 of those years at Florence Elementary. It has been such a privilege to be part of such a caring community of colleagues, parents and students for such a long time. I have been able to be with my own kids as they attended FES, made many life-long friendships and have been part of so many students' journeys through their elementary years. It is bittersweet for me, as I am looking forward to more time with my family, travel and actually having lunch at a restaurant in the middle of the day on a weekday during the school year 😂. I will definitely miss the day-to-day interactions with my students, as well as my FES family.
Again, it has been a privilege to serve you. I appreciate all of your trust and support over the years.
With much love and gratitude,
Angelina Bowen

Mrs. Brandel's Message
Dear Falcon Families,
I hope that you have all enjoyed this first day of your 4 day weekend! Our teachers and staff had a day of learning and preparation for the upcoming months and I am excited to see our students engaged in all the learning that will take place!
As Mrs. Bowen will be moving on to the next chapter of her story, we look forward to celebrating this incredible milestone and her contributions to FES over her 21 years! Mrs. Bowen has played such an important role in FES and has left a lasting mark on the lives of students and staff members. In the upcoming months, we will be working closely with our district counseling department and human resources team to ensure an effective and smooth transition to a new counselor for the 24-25 school year. We wish Mrs. Bowen all the best in her next chapter and well-deserved retirement! I look forward to continuing to work with her through the conclusion of this school year as she continues to make a lasting impact on our students as she has done with so many generations of Falcon students!
Wishing you and your families a wonderful 4 day weekend! We will see everyone back at school on Tuesday!
In Falcon Spirit!

Mrs. Parten - Kindergarten Teacher
"Mrs. Parten truly cares about her students and it shows. Our daughter had some challenges at the beginning of the year, but Mrs. Parten worked with her (and us) and came up with a unique plan specifically tailored to help her overcome those challenges. Mrs. Parten is patient and has fun with her students but she is also able to keep them on track. Our daughter adores her so much she wanted to invite her to her birthday party!" - Janese, FES Parent

After-school club reminder
If there is any change in dismissal arrangements for your child (such as NOT staying for a club, being a car rider instead of a bus rider, riding the bus on a different day, etc.) please call the FES front office at 817-744-4700 so that our office staff may complete the orange sheet and ensure that students are in the proper dismissal location. Please do not email your child's teacher regarding a change in dismissal without first contacting the front office as our teachers are not checking their emails during instructional time and it is likely that that email will not be read before dismissal time. For this reason, our front office ladies do a great job to ensure that the communication is made with teachers for any change of dismissal.
4TH gRADE mUSICAL
Our 4th grade students have been working hard to prepare for their musical, "The Jungle Book" and it's going to be an amazing show! We hope you can join us on Tuesday, February 20th at 6:00pm in the Cafeteria.
Science Materials Review
Keller ISD will host a series of Community Instructional Materials Review events in February as the District prepares to adopt a new K-12 science curriculum in compliance with new Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards for 2024-25.
Anyone in the Keller ISD community is invited to join us for the following come-and-go opportunities:
12:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, February 16
8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 20
8:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 21
All of these events will be held in the Keller ISD Education Center Boardroom (Rock Gym), located at 350 Keller Parkway. Please follow signs to enter at the main visitor entrance, located on the west side of the building. Only science materials for grades K-12 are being reviewed at this time.
Teachers, staff members, parents, students, and community members are welcome to stop by any time during the hours listed above to review instructional materials. There will also be an opportunity for you to provide feedback.
We look forward to seeing you and getting your feedback at one of these Community Instructional Materials Review events.

Join us for the FES Olympics (Open House)
We are so excited for this year's Open House where we will celebrate all of the learning, literacy and arts at FES this year! Parents, you and your child will begin your Olympic journey in your child's homeroom class where you will get to share in some of their work and will receive your Olympic Events booklet. From here, you will move around the building to visit our library, our gym, and our fine arts areas! As students and parents complete the activities in each Olympic event, you will receive a stamp.
Our goal is for our parents and students to share in each experience together, so parents, you must participate with your child to receive your Olympic stamp! Upon completion of all of the events in each of the rings, our PTA has provided a treat for students to pick up on their way out in the courtyard. We can't wait for you to share in this experience with your child!
*Weather permitting, we plan to have the side gate open for overflow parking, but ask that families, please plan to arrive by last name in order to help ensure that there is enough parking and space in the building for all of our Falcon families!
STAAR INTERIM TEST
State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) Interim Assessments are online assessments that align to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and that help educators monitor student progress and predict student performance on STAAR. These tests provide our teachers with data to monitor student performance related to the state standards and provides us with insight as to areas where students may need additional support either in general or individually. This also gives our students a practice opportunity in a testing environment and with the new STAAR 2.0 question types that include drag and drop, free response, and multiple answer selection which differs from how STAAR was prior to 2023.
