Cell Phones and Personal Technology

As we welcome students back to school on August 16, our top priority continues to be providing a safe, welcoming environment that sets up students for maximum academic growth and success. To help with this, we want to share a reminder about Keller ISD’s practices regarding student technology to ensure that students and families are familiar with these expectations before the first day of school.

Student cell phones, smart watches, AirPods, Bluetooth headphones, etc. are not allowed to be in use during instructional hours without teacher permission. Students may not use their phones during classes, and in restrooms. All students have access to iPads for email and classwork. If there is a medical reason to use a cell phone, that may be allowed per a 504, IEP, or health plan, with prior approval.

We understand that parents may need the ability to contact their child during the school day, so please do not hesitate to contact the office at 817-744-4700 anytime and we can relay messages to students as needed.

Some of the challenges schools encounter with hundreds of students using cell phones on campus include:

Consequences for not following the approved campus policy related to cell phones and other electronic devices will be as follows:

We appreciate your support as we create a safe educational environment that is free from distractions for our students.

Parents are always welcome at FES and we are grateful for our volunteers as an essential part of our school!  If you are interested in volunteering this year, please fill out the Keller ISD Volunteer Application.

Important Arrival/ Dismissal Reminders

Walkers

We want to ensure that our families have a clear understanding of what being a “walker” is. When you indicate that your student will walk home, you are giving permission for your student to walk home independently. We will walk students to the crosswalk on the corner of Johnson/Harrell/Cimmaron. Parents are welcome to meet their students in that area, however, please note that we will not be checking identification. If you prefer that extra level of security, please utilize the car line.

Bus Routes

Keller ISD is proud to have Texas Central School Bus as the District’s transportation provider! TCSB has a fleet of 243 buses and provides transportation to over 7,500 students across the District.  KISD is required to provide bus service to eligible students who live more than two miles from their campus of regular attendance and for special needs students who require transportation to attend school. In addition, the neighborhoods that are located south of 1709 are also eligible for bussing to FES. For more information about bus routes and stop locations, please use the Bus Stop Finder or call 817-744-1300.  We suggest that you also download the Here Comes the Bus Mobile App for updates and to see where your child's bus is. https://www.kellerisd.net/Page/6625.  Route information will be updated and available after August 10th.

"Hi, my name is Kelly Roberts, and have been in education for 30 years. I began my life's story in teaching at the 1st-grade level and continued to explore many grade levels. I transitioned to the role of Media Literacy Specialist in 2011, working in eight schools, K-12th. I was blessed to work with many wonderful principals, teachers, paraprofessional staff members, and amazing students. My relocation to Florence Elementary/Keller ISD was to live closer to my grown children and one adorable grandson. I am excited to begin this new chapter with all the wonderful families and school family at Florence Elementary School."

In 2012, we moved to Texas, where we now call home. My sons are both graduates from Central High School and are currently in college. There isn't an adventure too big that I would love to go on. Our family loves to camp, hike, fish, swim, enjoy the outdoors, listen to music and try to make each other laugh as often as possible.I am starting my 9th year at KISD! I started my adventure at Keller High School in 2015 for 6 years working as the 504/ISS data clerk and the Counseling Office Manager. I transferred to Indian Springs Middle School in 2021, where I served as the Campus Secretary for two years. I am excited for the opportunity to continue as Campus Secretary here at Florence Elementary and to be joining the FES team! Go Falcons!I
