Paul's Shipwreck
Paul was in Roman custody because of unfounded accusations brought against him by the Jews. Paul had stood before rulers in Caesarea and invoked his right as a Roman citizen to appeal to Caesar. So Festus the governor arranged for Paul to go to Rome.
Paul got onto a ship going toward Rome. As if Paul’s journey to Rome had not already been delayed and complicated enough, the ship was caught up in a terrible storm. Paul had warned the crew not to sail from Crete because they would lose everything and die. But they didn’t listen. Paul pointed out the error of their ways, but he still gave them hope. An angel had appeared to Paul. He said Paul would make it to Rome and all of the people with him would survive.
Paul urged everyone on the ship to eat so they would have energy. They planned to run the ship ashore on an island, but the ship got stuck on a sandbar. The waves battered the ship and it broke into pieces; however, all of the people survived and made it safely to shore.
Paul suffered for Christ. In his letter to the church at Corinth, Paul listed the kinds of things he faced: beatings, stoning, shipwrecks, various dangers, hardship, sleepless nights, hunger and thirst, nakedness, and other daily pressures. (See 2 Cor. 11:24-29.) Again and again, Paul saw evidence of God’s control over his life and the gospel was advanced.
As you teach kids, emphasize that Paul trusted God to keep His promise to rescue them from the storm. He also encouraged the sailors to trust God too. God calls us to trust in His Son, Jesus, who died to rescue us from sin and death, and to tell others this good news. We can encourage others to trust God because we know He is good and in control.
(You may ask all the kids to take turn to pray as well)
Praise God for His attributes: holiness, greatness, grace, love, mercy, etc.
Thank God for sending His Son Jesus to save us from our sins.
Thank God for His goodness, provision, forgiveness, etc.
Thank You God for sacrificing Your Son Jesus on the Cross to take our just punishment of death. Thank You Jesus for Your obedience to the Father and suffer the pain and death on the Cross. Thank You for the victory over death by raising Jesus from the grave on the third day! Because He is risen, the children of God shall inherit eternal life. Thank You God!
Ask God for His Holy Spirit to prepare our hearts, minds, and spirits to worship God and learn the lesson He has for us today.
God, we are here to worship, adore, and exalt You. Speak and teach us through Your Word. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Let's dwell on the holiness of God and His expectation of us, too.
Leader Say • For our new unit the next few weeks, we are going to think about our big picture question: What will happen for all Christians in the future? The answer is, One day, all Christians will see Jesus in His glory and live with Him forever. Amazing!
Believers will see Jesus in His glory. That means we will see His greatness and understand Him in ways we don’t now. And believers will live with Him forever! Keep our big picture question and answer in mind when you listen to today’s Bible story.
Leader Say: Do you remember who wrote these words? (Paul) Paul wrote to the church at Philippi. A storm did not stop God’s plans to get Paul to Rome, and nothing will stop God’s plan for your life. When God starts working in you, He carries out His plan. Paul trusted God to rescue him in the storm, and you can trust God to rescue you from sin through His Son, Jesus. Work on memorizing our key passage. Let’s sing our key passage song to help.
Let's all sing “I Am Sure of This" (Philippians 1:6).
Leader Say: What will happen for all Christians in the future? One day, all Christians will see Jesus in His glory and live with Him forever. Christians have hope in Jesus. We don’t have to be afraid no matter what is happening around us. Jesus is powerful, and we look forward to living with Him forever.
Let’s sing together “All Hail the Power.”
Invite kids to pray items below:
Share praises from this past week of what God did in your lives.
Confess and repent of our sins. Pray to God for His holiness and purity in our lives.
Ask God to forgive us, and ask the Holy Spirit to help us in self-control.
Share prayer requests with each other. Pray for each other.
Ask God for wisdom and guidance for Pastor John, the team, and the campers at the JT Missionary Camp that some would come to profess Jesus as their Savior and Lord!
Lord God, thank You for Your Word. In the Bible, we see that You are trustworthy. Help us when we doubt Your plans. Calm our fears and give us strength to trust You as we follow Jesus. In the Name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Christ Connection: Paul trusted God to keep His promise to rescue him from the storm. He encouraged the sailors to trust and obey God, too. God worked everything out for His plan.
God still works today, giving believers strength and courage through the Holy Spirit so that people all over the world will hear the gospel and believe. God calls us to trust in His Son, Jesus, who died to rescue us from sin and death, and to tell others this good news.

Here's another video of Paul's Journey to Rome for all who likes to draw!
Click on image and it will take you to YouTube to view it.
Guide kids to open their Bibles to Acts 27-28. Explain that God planned for Paul to see Caesar.
Choose a volunteer to read aloud Acts 27:23-25.
Leader Say • At the beginning of this story, Paul was a prisoner in Caesarea (cess uh REE uh). He got on a ship to go to Rome. A storm threatened the ship, but Paul trusted God to rescue him. The ship broke apart at the island of Malta , but everyone survived. Did Paul ever make it to Rome? (Yes.)
(Take your time to ask, let the kids to ponder and answer the following questions)
Paul encouraged the others on the ship to trust and obey God, too. He gave them instructions and told them not to be afraid. God kept them safe, and they all made it safely to shore.
(Option: Choose a volunteer to read Isa. 41:10.)
Affirm that emotions are from God and are not inherently wrong. However, we can choose to respond to our emotions in wrong or right ways. Encourage kids to be aware of times they feel afraid. Kids should ask themselves if they are trusting God in that moment and if not, why? Rather than staying in fear, kids can pray and ask God to help them trust Him and have courage even when they feel afraid.
(Option: Choose a volunteer to read 2 Tim. 1:7.)
God calls us to live on mission even when we feel discouraged or disappointed. We can trust that God will accomplish His plan through us. Point out that we might be tempted to fall back into living for ourselves instead of living for God. Following Jesus is not easy, but He is worth it because He is the only Way, the only Truth and the only Life!
Leader Say: As you watch this video, think about whether or not God promises to always protect Christians.
After the video discuss if they are more likely or less likely to turn to God when they are having a hard time. Tell us why or why not.

Jackie's Prayer Requests
• Praise the Lord, I will come back home next year! For a break of about 6 months, but as of now I am not sure of the exact time.
• Please pray for my relationship with the local workers. I need to be setting the example of following the rules.
• Please pray for me, sometimes I still get angry with the local workers here, because of culture difference and attitude toward sins. They are not perfect just like me. I need to love them just like Jesus loves me. I really need it at the moment.
• Please pray for the expansion of our ministry, thank the Lord that He is growing the ministry, but the local office needs more workers as well as finances to hire more workers to share the Gospel
• Thank you for the continued prayer for my future wife. I think I have someone on my mind. I pray a lot for her already. I haven’t start pursuing her yet. She doesn’t know anything at this stage. We will see what the Lord will do. I want to be patient and wait for the Lord's direction.
Praise and thanksgiving to God that the Holy Spirit helps us to listen and obey God.
Thank you, our Heavenly Father for our earthly fathers and mothers.

Leader: Missionaries are willing to do hard things to share the gospel. The missionary we are going to hear about today had to do some very hard things, like show people how Jesus had changed his life, when he went back to his homeland of Puerto Rico.
Watch the missions video.
After the video ask kids how Jorge’s (HOR-hayz) life changed when he met Jesus.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
