9/3/2026- Updates and Reminders

Waiver Day and Labor Day- This is one last reminder that tomorrow (9/4) will be a professional development work day for our teachers, and then Monday will be Labor Day. We will resume instruction on Tuesday 9/8. 

August Eagles of the Month- We have just added our first Eagles of the Month for August to the EoM page. Our Eagles of the Month have demonstrated exemplary behavior in the classroom and were given recognition for this on the week of 8/24…Way to SOAR, students!

Nimitz PTO Change Wars- Our Nimitz PTO “Change Wars” competition is up and running. Each grade has a jar to collect coins for positive points towards their grade. They can also place paper money (dollars) in their competition jar to generate negative points and sabotage them. The winners will be announced at our Fall Festival and will receive a Pizza Party as a prize. Click here to track your child's grade!

Absence Reporting Reminder- If you know your child will be absent, it is important you notify us using our absence reporting system. You can report an absence using this link, which is also available at bit.ly/NESAbsenceReport.

• Spirit Gear: Show your school pride with our brand new spirit gear- now available for Purchase

  • Please provide your child’s name, classroom and teachers name in the notes to the seller. We fill orders weekly by delivering them to your child’s classroom so that they can bring them home to you. If you have concerns about your order, please email us at ptonimitz1@gmail.com.

  • Our 2026/27 inventory has been much more popular than we anticipated, which means we have sold out of some sizes. We are expecting new inventory soon and will keep you up to date. Previous years shirts will not be restocked- so get them while you can! 

• Box Tops: Helping Nimitz is as easy as grocery shopping! Download the Box Tops for Education app, select Nimitz Elementary as your school, and start scanning your receipts. Every time you shop and scan, a portion goes right back to our school-no clipping needed! 

• Bingo/Family Game Night: Join us for a night of fun at the Nimitz Elementary Cafeterium on Friday, 25 September 2026 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Check out our social media for updates as the event gets closer.

• Popcorn Friday: Order forms for Popcorn Friday were sent home last week. If you would like to purchase popcorn for your child, please complete the form and return it, along with payment to your child’s teacher. Online ordering is also available here on our Spirit Wear Square site. The due date for orders is 10 September and popcorn will be popped and delivered on 11 September at the end of the school day. 

• Soaring Stars: Pass on the positivity by telling us about a teacher or staff member who has gone above and beyond. Click here to nominate a Soaring Star.
