2/19/2026- Updates and Reminders

SAVE THE DATE Nimitz RWL Exhibition Day 3/6/26- This school year, Nimitz Elementary School teachers have continued to work on our new initiative to build more real world experiences for our students. Part of this new initiative is students exhibiting the results of their real world problem project to their parents and community partners. On the second to last Friday before Spring Break (3/6), parents will be invited to campus prior to dismissal to see the work of their children’s Real World Learning Projects. Pencil it in for now, and stay tuned for more information.

Kindergarten Registration SY26-27 NOW OPEN- To our families who have a child that has turned, or will be turning 5 between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026, registration is now open for your Kindergarten child. Please see our Registration & Release Page and our Kindergarten 26-27 Page for more information.

School Quality Survey-The DOE School Quality Survey (SQS) is now open for you to take. The SQS is a survey that measures parent perceptions of the safety and well-being of their child(ren), and parent satisfaction and involvement/engagement with Nimitz Elementary.  All responses will be kept confidential in order to gather candid information and will be used by schools for continuous improvement purposes.  Please reference this parent letter (a hardcopy was sent home with each child) which includes an internet link and QR code to access the Parent SQS.

Absence Reporting Reminder- If you know your child will be absent, it is important you notify us using our absence reporting system. You can report an absence using this link, which is also available on our website and at bit.ly/NESAbsenceReport.

• Month of the Military Child Drawing Contest: The PTO is excited to announce our Month of the Military Child Drawing Contest! Entries are due by March 13th. The winning artwork will be featured on the official 2026 Month of the Military Child banner! 

  • Contest Guidelines: Artwork must be on paper no longer than 11x17, use bold, bright colors (image will be transferred digitally), design may be portrait or landscape, no weapons in the drawing, entries can be dropped off in the front office, digital entries are also accepted.

We can’t wait to see our students’ creativity shine as we celebrate our amazing military kids!
