Parent Teacher Conference Reminders
Conference Times and Classrooms- Please make sure you are aware of your conference date and time from your child’s respective teacher. Our front office may not be aware of your respective date and time, but can direct you to the appropriate location if you do not know where your child’s classroom is located.
Conference Day Etiquette- Please know that our teachers will be conducting their conferences on a very tight schedule. Delays could happen, so please be courteous to the meetings that are happening before yours.

Student Council Book Fair- Our Student Council Book Fair will be open for most of the day during Parent Teacher Conferences. See details below in the Book Fair section.
PTO Penny Wars- Our PTO will be hosting a Penny Wars competition between grade levels, and their jars will be posted near the book fair this Thursday and Friday. See their flier below for details.
Swag Sale 9/12 (8:00am to 11:30am)- If you still haven’t bought your school swag from our PTO, you can purchase school shirts and other “swag” at this time near the Book Fair as well.
Update on Catlin Bus Issues- After elevating bus concerns to higher leadership, we have been informed that the Catlin morning bus should be working in a more timely manner starting Monday 9/15. The changes made have resulted in a modified schedule. With this new schedule, delays (if they occur) should be no longer than 10 minutes.
IMPORTANT Federal Impact Aid Survey Cards SY25-26- This week, you should have received a flier from The Federal Impact Aid Program. The Federal Impact Aid Program is designed to assist school districts who have lost revenue due to federal properties’ exemption from local property taxes. The amount of federal money received is determined by calculating the concentration of students who reside on military bases, low-rent housing properties, and other federal properties, have parents in the uniformed services, or have parents employed on eligible federal properties. Filling out and returning this form will help Nimitz Elementary and schools like us offset costs for school materials and resources, substitute teachers, student transportation, and other services at schools statewide. Your support is crucial to securing this vital funding.
NES Student Council’s Scholastic Book Fair- NES parents and guardians are invited to come and shop the book fair at the NES cafeteria during Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, September 11 8:00 am - 2:00 pm (closed for lunch from 11:45 am- 12:30 am) and Friday, September 12 8:00 am - 11:30 am. Absence Reporting Reminder- If you know your child will be absent, it is important you notify us using our absence reporting system. You can report an absence using this link, which is also available on our website and at bit.ly/NESAbsenceReport.

Stop by our PTO Swag Sale on Friday, September 12th during Parent-Teacher Conferences! We’ll be set up right outside the Book Fair, so swing by to grab some school spirit gear while you’re there.
Spirit Gear: Show your school pride with our brand new spirit gear. Make sure to put your students name and teachers room number and we’ll drop it off.
Get Ready for the Penny War Fundraiser: Starting September 10th through October 24th, our PTO is hosting a friendly Penny War fundraiser between grade levels! Gather your spare change and get ready to help support our school’s programs and activities. More details will be coming soon, so stay tuned and start saving those pennies and get ready to battle. Mark your calendars! On Friday, September 19th, 2025 support our school by ordering online from any Panda Express nationwide! This Profit Share runs all day- just place your online order using the code 9006915 and 28% of sales will be donated back to our school. You can also share code 9006915 with friends and family to use online at a location near them.
Save the Date - Popcorn Pop-Up Sale!
Mark your calendars! We’re excited to announce that our beloved popcorn is finally returning for a pop up sale. PTO will be hosting a Popcorn Pop-Up Sale on Thursday, September 25th. It’s a fun and tasty tradition our students love and we’re thrilled to bring it back. A flyer with all the details will be coming home soon- stay tuned!
Soaring Stars: Promote positivity at Nimitz! Tell us about a Nimitz Elementary teacher/staff member who has been doing a fabulous job lately or someone who has helped you out by filling out this FORM with a compliment or shout out. A winner will be randomly selected monthly to receive a gift card.
Congratulations to our August Soaring Star winner Mrs. Bongo! She goes above and beyond to promote positivity, encourage her students, and create a classroom full of joy and learning.
