Kentucky Travel

PROCESS:

Before going to the actual places we had to prepare for the trip:

1. Identified students who were willing to travel to the locations. A consent letter was sent to the parents.

2. We started preparing what to say and how to say it on Google Slides.

3. We practiced using a Professional Grade Lavalier Lapel Microphone Omnidirectional Mic with Easy Clip-On System Perfect for Recording with Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter

4. We recorded our voice on our iPads using Voice Memo APP while another student displayed the information on a clipboard.

5. We practiced many days in the hallways of our school prior to going to the actual locations.

At the Locations:

1. We used a Sony Video Camcorder and our iPad to record the video and audio.

2. The information was printed and held at a certain distance. The student who was assigned that location read the information but also recorded their audio on their own iPad.

Combining video and audio

1. The audio recordings were added to the classroom. The video and the audio were later merged using Pinnacle studio software.

For Background information on the locations - Digital Storytelling

1. We added a few resources from online into a program called - Adobe Creative Cloud.

2. We selected the video template - created this story from a template. We added the images and text (with sources) to the template. We also added the audio music provided within Adobe Creative Cloud. Later on, the voice was recorded for each slide.

3. One of the videos has the background music of The Happy Birthday song that was downloaded from YouTube Studio. The source is added at the end of the video. (YouTube Audio Library - Happy Birthday Bouncy E's Jammy Jams)

4. Once the entire template was completed and reviewed, it was downloaded as a video.

Combining all videos and adding music background

1. All the individual videos were combined to create one complete video on Pinnacle Studio

2. The background music for the actual locations is Bensound Memories from Storyblocks. The music credit is also added at the end of the video.

3. Since the videos were created by different students, our STLP Coach helped combine all of them with Pinnacle Studio.

How did we decide on the locations:

1. Fort Duffield - 3 locations - Suggestions from Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Pruitt

2. Tiago Falls - Suggestions from Chess/Reading Teacher, Ms. Hennig

3. Little Loomhouse - Research based on Louisville Historic Locations - Students and STLP Coach.

4. The debut of Happy Birthday Song Location - STLP Coach.
