I was trying to draw a Pop Art inspired artwork for class. I started looking up important people during the 1960’s, the decade of Pop Art. The person who stood out to me above all others is Shirley Chisholm. It was amazing to me that she was able to achieve being the first black congresswoman! You never really hear much about black women achievements. I studied quite a few different old photographs of Shirley Chilsolm. I also looked at many many references of Pop Art. Then, I used ibis paint and created my “Tribute to Shirley” in the Pop Art style. I loved the end result.

We were studying different Art periods during class when I created my “Art” design. My teacher wanted us to choose a style or art period to base our design on. I could not decide which one to do. Then I had the idea of making a design for all of Art and what it means to me. I used my ipad and Procreate to draw my image. I played the text quite a bit until I got my A, R, T combined just right. I wanted it to look balanced and eye-catching. I added a layer to the text and imported in an abstract drawing I had previously done on Procreate. I then adjusted the lighting to give it a soft watercolor effect.
