Students in the STLP class began our project by discussing ways in which our world had been impacted both small and large. The pandemic theme was prevalent in our discussions. Once we settled on that, we took a look at the STLP resources for a potential 'challenge'. We had recently utilized an electronic app called Book Creator and students were eager to showcase their digital publishing skills. Then we used both Padlet and Jamboard to familiarize ourselves with eMagazines and our potential audience. With regards to audience, we reached out to our local councilman-Rick Blackwell to get some suggestions on local small businesses we could help and sought feedback on whom to present this idea to. He suggested presenting to our City Chamber of Commerce. Once we had formulated our plan to create a digital magazine that featured local small businesses, specifically how to help them through the pandemic, we began reaching out to some of our favorite area small businesses. They more than eager to allow us to feature them in an eMagazine. Students then divided themselves up into groups, selected the business they wanted to feature in the publication and went to work. Each page features digital media (with permission and credits), how and where to support the business, and how to follow them on social media, just to name a few.

We used Book Creator to create this project.
First started with the vocabulary on Native Americans.
We added pictures of the scientist and technologist.
We also added the Native American affiliation.
We also added the source for each of them.
To make the book attractive, we added background colors.
After completing the book, we published it so anyone can see and actually have the book read to them.
