Dress Code - Spring is here! As the temperature rises, please make sure your child has their name in their coat. Also, please make sure students follow our dress code.

STUDENT DRESS CODE

The purpose of a dress code is not to inhibit any person’s taste in attire, but rather to better facilitate the process of education through reasonable guidelines of “dress,” instilling dignity and pride.  Creating the proper learning environment includes encouraging students to dress to learn.

If you or your child are in doubt about whether certain attire would be acceptable at school, the “rule of thumb” is for the student to wear something else he/she knows is appropriate.

West Jackson Elementary students may wear shorts of reasonable length.  Hats, caps, and bandanas are not to be worn by boys or girls except on field days and or other designated days.  Because some types of clothing distract our students from learning, the following are prohibited.

STUDENTS SHOULD NOT WEAR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

The administration has the right to enforce a reasonable dress code.  Students who come to school dressed inappropriately will be expected to change. Parents will be contacted to bring appropriate clothing if students are wearing clothing that is unacceptable for school. If parents are unable to bring appropriate clothing then an alternative clothing item will be provided.

GMAS testing -

Jackson County Schools utilizes an assessment program comprised of district (local), state, and classroom assessments. Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 are participating in the state assessment: Georgia Milestones (GMAS). Results of assessments, like GMAS, are utilized to identify students' level of content mastery, to guide teachers with instructional planning, and to support the district in identifying strengths and weaknesses in order to improve instructional effectiveness. Here is more information for your review.

It is VERY IMPORTANT for all families to set up an Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account. Click HERE to set up your child's account. This account allows you to receive important school messages through the Remind app, see student grades and attendance. If you have trouble with this process, email Mrs. West (rebecca.west@jcss.us). After a parent portal account has been activated, please allow 24 hours for the information to sync with the Remind app to be able to message teachers. If you are unable to use Remind at any time, please send your child's teacher an email.
