Literacy Unlocked

Looking for fun ways to get your child to read at home? Check out these fun activities! Interested in challenging your child, have them complete this 2o Book Challenge.

One of our teachers, Mrs. Knight, led a year-long, interdisciplinary unit called The Recess Project, as 3rd and 5th grade students helped design, collaborate and plan some exciting activities to spice up the playground, and we can now say the project is COMPLETE! We hope all of our WJES students enjoy the activities during their recess time for years to come! Great job to Mrs. Knight’s 5th grade students for making an imprint (literally) on our campus, which they can say they played a role in before they head off to middle school!

We have many people to thank who made this all possible! Thank you Ace Hardware for sponsoring the paint to help make this project possible! Thank you to our WJES PTO for providing funds to have a local artist, Paige Barton, paint the activities. Lastly, thank you to the volunteers who donated items, donated their time to leaf blow, as well as those who donated time to help paint! It wouldn’t have been possible without you all! Our WJES community is amazing!

It is school spirit time! Grab your favorite tattoos to show your school spirit! All tattoos are $1 each and proceeds will go to the P.E. department to buy equipment for new activities. Order forms will be coming home with your student on Monday. Please fill out the form and send it back in with money attached and we will send the tattoos home with them.

Thank you- Coach Aaron & Coach Hayes

It is VERY IMPORTANT for all families to set up an Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account. Click HERE to set up your child's account. This account allows you to receive important school messages through the Remind app, see student grades and attendance. If you have trouble with this process, email Mrs. West (rebecca.west@jcss.us). After a parent portal account has been activated, please allow 24 hours for the information to sync with the Remind app to be able to message teachers. If you are unable to use Remind at any time, please send your child's teacher an email.
