Upcoming Events

Does your student have a book checked out from the PuRL Bus?  Students can return books at the next visit or they can return them to our school library between times that the bus is visiting.  We have partnered with the Piedmont Regional Library to have the PuRL Bus come on the first Monday of each month (weather permitting).

Dress Code Reminders

The purpose of a dress code is not to inhibit any person’s taste in attire, but rather to better facilitate the process of education through reasonable guidelines of “dress,” instilling dignity and pride. Creating the proper learning environment includes encouraging students to dress to learn. Clothing should not disrupt learning. Administrators may refuse admission to class or to school for any student who is in violation of the dress code. Repeated violation of the dress code may result in administrative referral.

Birthdays

Parents can bring a purchased sealed treat for your child's birthday. No balloons or flowers as these are not allowed on the bus.  You can drop the special treat off at the front office, the teacher will distribute it at a time that works in the class schedule.

Looking for ways to help your student with math? Here are some tasks to try at home.

- Each person rolls the dice and adds, subtracts, or multiplies the numbers

- Count orally by twos, fives, or tens

-Review math facts at home, in the car, waiting in line, or during other downtime

-Provide your child with verbal math problems. “Take the number five. Add six. Multiply by three. Subtract three. Divide by five. What’s your answer?” Speak slowly at first until your child gets better at solving these mental problems

-Ask your child how many different ways they can show a specific number, say, 18 (they might say 16 + 2, 19 – 1, 10 + 7 + 1, etc.)
