Reflection

After a stressful spring, it is important to take time for yourself before you look back and reflect on your successes and struggles. When you are ready to begin the process of preparing for the fall, take time to reflect.

  1. What went well during your virtual learning in Spring 2020?

Take time to reflect on your successes in the Spring of 2020:

    • What did students say they enjoyed or appreciated the most?

    • What did parents say they appreciate the most?

    • What are you most proud of as an educator?

    • Look at any data you collected - what units, lessons, or activities were most successful?

    • What were you most grateful for during this time?

    • What will you be able to reuse?

2. What did not go well during your virtual learning in Spring 2020?

Take time to reflect on your biggest challenges:

    • What was the biggest challenge or problem for you as an educator during virtual learning?

    • What was the biggest challenge or problem your students faced with learning online with you during virtual learning?

    • What was the biggest challenge or problem for parents with learning online?

3. Create a list.

It may not be possible to solve all of the challenges you faced last spring, but there is a very good chance that you've learned some lessons which will help you this fall with being prepared for the potential for virtual learning.

  • Create a list of ideas - you do not need to act on them right away, but the list will give you a goal to return to before the start of the year.

  • Reach out to last year's students and parents - now that there is some distance from the virtual learning and school is over, what would they say went well or did not go well now?

  • Consider how you can be ready even if you may be starting face-to-face. How can you prepare in case you're faced with moving online again?
