If possible, allow children some choice in what they are reading
Taking the learning outside (reading under a tree in the backyard, writing words with sidewalk chalk)
Incorporate authentic literacy tasks (write Grandma a letter since you can’t go visit, read about a vacation you would like to take when the stay-at-home order is lifted)
Get outside and play. Studies show that fresh air, sunshine, and dirt play a role in reducing stress levels, cortisol (your stress hormone), and improve your overall mood.

The following guidelines are available from the Continuous Learning Task Force Guidance from the state of Kansas (page 13) for the amount of work students should be doing per day:
Pre-K : 30 minutes
Grades K-1: 45 minutes
Grades 2-3: 60 minutes
Grades 4-5: 90 minutes
Grades 6-12: 30 minutes per teacher (3 hours max in a day)
