Protect Your
Zoom Room
You may have read or heard that there are security issues with using Zoom. Here are a few strategies for protecting your Zoom room:
Allow Zoom to create a random ID for your meeting rather than using your assigned ID
Require a password when creating a new meeting
Create a Waiting Room that means attendees cannot join a meeting until a host admits them individually.
Enable "require password" for participants joining by phone
Keep Zoom up to date
Do not share the Zoom meeting link on public pages
Review Zoom Best Practices
To change or access your settings in Zoom, go to Zoom Preferences. You can get to the preferences under the Main Menu. A window similar to the one to the left will appear. To access further settings click View More Settings. This will take you into a web browser where you will need to log into your Zoom account to make changes.
Use a Password when you schedule a meeting. Click the Schedule button in your Zoom window and Choose Require Password . You may also want Zoom to generate your Meeting ID Automatically
Use a Waiting Room for your participants and then admit them to your meeting room. When you start your meeting, participants will need to be admitted to the room. You may want to enable play a sound when someone joins the room so you know when someone is waiting.
Keep Zoom Up to Date. Zoom will continue to add more security features.
