Class of 2025
Resource of the Week
Information session: five dos and don'ts of US/UK university admissions
Format: one-hour Zoom session for a small group of families:
--Main features of the US/UK university landscape: the academic and admissions model in each country, what distinguishes successful applicants, and a few important recent developments (e.g., optional SAT/ACT). Plus an introduction to other countries' universities (e.g., the Netherlands, Canada) if there's interest.
--Q&A (bring your questions!)
Who it's for: Parents of high school students in 11th grade / junior year / lower Sixth or earlier (i.e. finishing school in 2025, 2026, or 2027).
--Students are welcome to join but be aware that we'll touch on tuition costs (which can be high, though not everywhere/for everyone) and admissions rates (which can be low, though not at all good colleges). These numbers can be off-putting for some younger students, and that's why the session is pitched mostly at parents.
--Students in their final year (finishing school in 2024) are welcome to get in touch with me separately, as individual guidance is generally more useful in the run-up to applications.
Fill out this survey and you will be sent a link.
Possible dates and times:
Mon Nov 20, 5:00p UK / 11:00a NY / 10:30p India
Weds Nov 22, 2:00p UK / 9:00a NY / 7:30p India

BURSA
My name is Leo Chang, and I am the External Vice President of the Burmese Student Association (BURSA) at UCLA. I am reaching out to your school to inform you of this year’s annual UC application workshop for the Burmese seniors.
Similar to past years, we are looking to connect with Burmese seniors in order to assist them with their UC applications during the stressful application season by providing them with guidance and mentorship. Students will be provided resources ranging from personal statement essay assistance to major and interest exploration. We have hosted students from all over California and international students from Myanmar. This year, we will also be introducing one-on-one mentoring, where one of your seniors will be paired with one of our board members; your senior will have this resource until the end of the UC application season, allowing them to schedule meetings and ask questions in accordance to their own schedule.
The introductory phase of this event, where general information and student-mentoring pairings will be given, will take place on Friday, October 20th at 9 P.M (PDT) on Zoom. The RSVP/interest form (linked below) for this introductory event is provided below, and the deadline to register is Sunday, October 15th. Even if your student cannot make the October 20th event, the mentorship opportunity is still open to them, and they can still be paired with one of our student mentors. All activities we host are entirely free, with no cost for your school or students.
We remain steadfast in our mission to offer Burmese and Burmese American students, an underrepresented minority group, more opportunities to interact with older students of similar cultural backgrounds. Students will not only be able to attain a richer perspective on navigating through the next chapter of their lives at a university or college, but also receive support and validation surrounding challenges and struggles unique to Burmese and Burmese Americans students, such as lack of representation and community. One of the core missions of our organization is to enable Burmese and Burmese American students to learn from the experiences of those who have come before them so that they do not walk alone in their academic endeavors. Through our programs, we aim to provide valuable resources for all Burmese and Burmese American students, hoping to create a warm and welcoming space for all members of our community.
Feel free to email us with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Fordham Univeristy
We were pleased to enroll a talented incoming class of 2,401 students. View our class profile and read about our students in Fordham News.
We've made some changes to our admission plans. We've added Early Decision II as an option. We've also removed Priority Performance; Dance and Theatre majors will now select Early Action.
We've created three new mission-oriented prompts for our optional short response this year.
With the understanding that not all students have equal access to the same math coursework, we've updated our math preparation guidelines for admission to the Gabelli School of Business.
Fordham has extended its test-optional pilot through Fall 2025.
63% of the Fall 2023 class was admitted without test scores.
Students submitting testing may continue to self-report their test scores.
Early Action/Early Decision I applicants will be able to change their testing status or submit their scores through November 20.
We can accept school documents for Early Action/Early Decision applicants (including recommendation letters!) through November 16. Note: international applicants who are applying for need-based aid will need to submit all documents by November 3.
We're offering a full slate of on-campus and virtual events for prospective students, including our October Open House and November Fall Preview.
