The purpose of the Graduate Program in Materials Science is to graduate masters and doctors that will participate in the scientific and technological development of the Brazilian Army and the civil society in the field of Materials. Specifically, the Program aims to train graduates qualified to perform functions and activities in the field of Materials Science and Engineering.

The Program also seeks to fulfill the goals and strategic actions recommended by the National Postgraduate Plan (PNPG) 2025-2029, considering, as a priority, the areas and lines of research contained in the Army Strategic Plan (PEEx) 2024-2027.
