Laboratory of Thin Films and Solar Cells
The following activities are carried out in the Laboratory of Thin Films and Solar Cells:
production and characterization of thin films for infrared detectors;
production and characterization of thin films for solar cells;
production and characterization of thin films for optical filters and absorbers;
production and characcterization of graphene.
The following equipments are available:
deposition systems:
homemade system for RF magnetron sputtering;
Balzers evaporation equipment;
Edwards evaporation equipment (flash, electron beam and resistive);
Two homemade close-spaced sublimation (CSS) systems;
Jeol evaporation equipment (adapted for close-spaced sublimation);
characterization systems:
UV-vis-NIR spectrophotometer for optical characterization (transmittance, reflectance, absorbance) double beam Cary 5000 – Varian;
Dektak 150 – Veeco profiler for thickness and roughness measurements;
QEX7 – PV system for quantum efficiency measurements (internal/external and apparent, with bias light and voltage);
SCD1 – PV current-voltage measurement system;
XE-7 – Park Systems atomic force microscope;
homemade temperature coefficient of resistance measurement system;
Bio-Rad HL5000 system for measuring electrical properties (resistivity, mobility, concentration of charge carriers and determination of charge carrier type using the Hall effect);
S30H Elma ultrasonic bath model;
GHA 12/300 Carbolite tube oven;
Two Quimis hoods.
