London is a very important city. It’s the capital of England and the United kingdom. It is situated on the banks of the river Thames in south east England. London is an international city and it’s important for business, culture and tourism, in fact, London attracts thousands of tourists every year. The area of London is 1,570 sq. km and it was founded by romans in ad 43. Its Roman name was Londinium.

London is the capital of shopping! Harrods is a world famous department store with 230 departments. Don't forget Oxford street for shopping. It's over two miles long and has 300 shops. Or go to Portobello road market for its antiques, food and clothes.
Markets are a very important part of London's life and reflect its history and traditions as well as its great diversity. There is something for everyone!

London is a multicultural city full of contrasts and it’s very busy. The population of London is about 8 million people. A lot of foreigners work and study in London and it’s always full of foreign tourists, too.
