IRELAND

The Republic of Ireland is a country in North-western Europe occupying most of the island of Ireland. 

Capital

The capital city of  the Republic of Ireland is Dublin. The city of Dublin counts 1,4 million people.

Climate 

Ireland has a mild climate thanks to the Gulf stream. The winter is wet and cool and  the summer is wet and warm.

Flag

Language 

English is the most spoken language.

Gaelic is also an official language, but not many people speak it.

Currency

The official currency is euro.

Typical food

Irish people eats lots of potatoes and they drink beer, especially Guinnes beer.  Another typical food is bacon and eggs that people eat for breakfast.

Animals

The most common animals in Ireland are: the red fox, the hedgehog and the ermine.

The deer, the hare and the marmot are less common.

Traditional music

Traditional Irish folk music is played on the fiddle, the whistle and the Bodhran.

Modern Irish groups and musicians like U2, Westlife and Snow Patrol are famous all over the world.

Festivities 

In Ireland the most famous festivity is "St. Patrick's Day". On this day Irish people wear only green clothes.

Another festivity is " boxing Day", this is a day of sales.

Symbols

Lots of symbols that represent Ireland are: the clover, the british harp, the celtic cross and the color green. People think that geen brings good luck.
