In the Australian flag there are 6 stars on a blue background and the British flag on the upper left. In fact Australia is part of the Commonwealth and Queen Elizabeth II is the present head of State.

The national anthem of the country is 'Advance Australia fair'.
Australia was a British colony but became independent from Britain in 1931. People still speak English and many of them have family in Britain. In the last ten years, more than a million immigrants have arrived in Australia from all over the world and today there are about 23 million people who live in Australia. The capital is Canberra, but Sidney is the biggest city and has a population of about 4 million people.
The currency is the Australian dollar, the typical food is: Chicken Parmigiana, Barbequed Snags, Lamingtons, Pavlova, Meat pies and Pumpkin soup.
The typical music is bush music and rock’n’roll. The main festivities are: New Year, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter, Anzac Day, Christmas, Saint Stephen and the main symbols are the Australian crest, the Australian anthem and opals. In Australia there are a lot of unique animals:
