Lesson 4: Explore music in the local context (Japanese traditional music)
Some of you might already experienced in your junior high school, we'll check out some Japanese traditional music that's still perform nowadays in Japan. This will be under AOI1, and a lot of them will be also under AOI3
Questions that you should think about while listening to examples introduced:
What instruments is used in the example performance?
What is the form or the structure (road map) of the example performance?

Prepare a short group presentation on the following topics (present on the first class after summer break):
Kabuki (Marin, Kazuha, Hiroki)

Considered the following questions when preparing the presentation:
What is it?
Musical forms used (if possible to identify them)
How did the music pass down from generations to generations? What kind of method, including sheet music, did Japanese people used?
Musical instruments mainly used
Area of Inquiry the genre belongs
Purpose of genre
History about it
Representative works (show us examples!)
MUST INCLUDE A BIBLIOGRAPHY!! (include one in book format)
