Lesson 8: Experimenting as a creator ①

• explore with items in house and at school

• create a short ostinato with a partner

  • in 4/4 time, 60 bpm (just like the ostinato homework)

  • you and your partner must be able to repeat the ostinato

  • make a record in your music journal so you don't forget!

    • any format is ok!

      • music notation

      • sound recording

      • video recording

  • ask yourself and your partner these questions below when you do your experiment:

    • Where did you and your partner get the inspiration from?

    • What is the reason you and your partner created this ostinato?

    • Why did you and your partner choose these items?

    • Which context would you put your composition under? (personal? local? global?) Why?

    • How would you and your partner develop it to make it more interesting? (after presenting it in class)

  • present the ostinato with your partner next class
