School Apps
At PDCS we currently use a number of apps that help us communicate with parents/guardians of our pupils.
We use My Ed to keep parents informed about school activities, replacing the old system of sending paper letters home with each child. Many letters weren't reaching parents, leaving them unaware of school events. By transitioning to the app, we reduce paper usage, benefiting the environment, and ensure instant delivery of information to parents' devices. Additionally, we use the app to send absence notifications, fulfilling our statutory duty to contact parents when a child's reason for absence is unknown.
Within the app, parents can message us for any reason, and we'll respond promptly. They can also report their child's absence and access up-to-date attendance percentages and important school policies. Best of all, it's free to use. There are no costs associated with sending messages via the app for parents or the school. By downloading and using My Ed for these features, parents contribute to saving the school money that can be reinvested to enhance their child's experience at PDCS.
To download My Ed, click on the link above and follow the instructions. You'll only be able to access all app features if you're registered in our school system as having parental rights for the child and if we have your phone number on record, for data protection reasons.
If you encounter any issues downloading the app or can't see your child's information, please contact the main reception
Class Charts Parents
We've recently implemented Class Charts at Pembroke Dock Community School. Class Charts is an online system used by staff to monitor achievement and behavior throughout the school day. We prioritise close collaboration with parents and guardians, and one of the significant advantages of using Class Charts is our ability to securely share your child’s achievements with you in real-time.
Each child earns points for positive and negative behavior throughout the day, and whenever this occurs, parents receive a notification directly to their device. To access your child's information, you'll need a unique access code, which is available from the main reception once your child has started at PDCS, along with a guide on how to log in for the first time
IPAL Booking System - After School Club, Late Pickup & Friday Afternoons
We utilize the IPAL booking system for our After School Club, Late Pick Ups, and Friday Afternoon Childcare services. Late Pick Ups accommodate parents unable to pick their children up promptly at the end of the day, running from dismissal until 4 pm. The service incurs a charge of £2 per child per night.
Our After School Club extends care until 5:30 pm each evening, offering a valuable resource for families. Due to limited space, early booking is crucial. Charges for this service are £6.50 for the first child, £6.50 for the second child, and £6 for the third child.
Friday Afternoon Childcare caters to working parents requiring their children to remain in school on Friday afternoons. To facilitate this, parents must book their child's attendance, ensuring we can accommodate everyone. Currently, there is no charge for this service; however, we are reviewing this policy due to increased demand.
