HLTA Assessment
National HLTA Assessment
Target audience: Candidates who have completed modules of the Aspiring HLTA Programme and have the full support and endorsement of their Headteacher.
HLTA Assessment is specifically for practitioners who have completed the Aspiring HLTA programme and now believe they are ready to be assessed for HLTA status.
To apply for assessment for HLTA status applicants must:
Have engaged with the National Aspiring HLTA Development Programme
Have written 10 Professional Learning Reflections demonstrating that they have sufficient experience and specialised skills to evidence sustained highly effective practice against the Professional Standards for Assisting Teaching.
Have attained required level 2 qualifications prior to assessment.
Have experience of leading the learning for whole classes. Headteachers will be asked to confirm this.
Have the full support of their Headteacher who will be required to endorse the application.
To complement the professional work of teachers for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or short term for the whole class. The award of the status, although not a qualification, supports teaching assistants to undertake a specific role within the classroom / setting.

Candidates:
must present evidence prepared during the Aspiring HLTA programme and be assessed during a school visit or assessment meeting by a registered, nationally trained, HLTA Assessor.
will be provided with access to the national application process during the Aspiring HLTA programme.
are allocated an Assessor who will complete the national HLTA Assessment during a specified assessment cycle.
