Cross-cutting themes
Target audience: Primary and secondary schools
It is mandatory for schools and settings to plan, design and implement careers and work-related experiences (CWRE) as a cross cutting theme in their curriculum.
This two-part professional learning offer has been developed by Careers Wales in partnership with Professor Andy Penaluna from Swansea University.
Align their approaches to ‘Skills Integral to the Four Purposes’.
Address the requirements of the ‘Four Purposes’, with a special focus on enterprising, creative contributors.
Consider alternative pedagogical approaches that have been seen to have had impact internationally when learning ‘for’ enterprise, as opposed to learning ‘about’ enterprise.

Target audience: All practitioners – especially those with knowledge and understanding of RVE and/ or RSE.
This professional learning is designed to support practitioners with developing an understanding of the diversity across the region, thereby supporting schools to deliver objective and pluralistic RVE and RSE. Each session will be carefully crafted to support with building knowledge and understanding around the main faiths and beliefs across the region, as well as incorporating an awareness of lived experience and signposting towards relevant and recommended reading, resources and teaching & learning materials.
Have the opportunity to develop their own religious literacy and knowledge.
Be given opportunities to understand and appreciate lived experience of personal faith and belief.
Work alongside HEI partners.
Be supported with the development of strategies to embed pluralistic and objective RSE and RVE which is reflective of our diverse, multi-cultural and multi secular society.
Be challenged to consider the cultural and religious stereotypes within our work.
Be empowered to develop an RSE and/ or RVE curriculum that has diversity at its core, thereby allowing all learners to be reflected and be able to see themselves in their curriculum.

This is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM
Relationships and sexuality education (RSE) is a statutory requirement in the Curriculum for Wales framework and is mandatory for all learners from ages 3 to 16. Partneriaeth is looking to work collaboratively with 6 practitioners from across the region to develop resources to support schools to consider how curriculum and pedagogy supports and informs the development of the wider approach to RSE.
Participants will:
Undertake reading and research.
Work together to decide on a project focus and develop a strategic plan.
Collaborate to create and pilot resources and pedagogical approaches to support the development of RSE as a cross cutting theme.
Create guidance/ support materials, resources, and professional development for schools throughout the region.
Share project outcomes with others across the region.

Target audience: All secondary practitioners – especially those with knowledge and understanding of RSE.
This network will support practitioners with their role as RSE leads within their schools. Practitioners will receive professional learning as well as opportunities to collaborate and co construct RSE T&L for their settings.
Participants will:
Develop their confidence in curriculum planning and delivery of RSE.
Have an understanding of the importance of developing pluralistic and objective RSE.
Be kept updated with opportunities and potential challenges in RSE.
Supported in working with parents and communities.
Be supported with a community of practice.
Have an opportunity to network with other RSE leads across the region.

Partneriaeth are committed to providing quality bespoke and universal professional learning to all schools and settings across the region. Partneriaeth recognise the significant challenges facing schools at the moment and the difficulties many face when trying to facilitate staff to attend professional learning events. In order to try and mitigate these challenges Partneriaeth have scheduled online AoLE drop-in sessions.
These termly (these half termly) drop-in sessions have been scheduled to provide opportunities to speak with Partneriaeth officers leading on AoLE development and support. They are informal and by their nature will be responsive to the needs of those attending.

In March 2021 the Welsh Government published Professor Charlotte Williams’ report: ‘Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, contributions and cynefin in the new curriculum. All 51 recommendations in the report were accepted by Welsh Government. In line with recommendation 28, Partneriaeth is offering this opportunity for educational professionals to build their knowledge and understanding of how they can build a global curriculum which develops a sense of belonging for all learners.
This one day conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to hear from speakers with expertise in this field and attend a selection of workshops. Delegates will have the chance to speak with colleagues from schools across the region that have started out on their own journey.
Delegates will:
Develop links with specialists and organisations
Develop the knowledge and understanding needed to build a global curriculum,
Have an opportunity to network and hear about school initiatives to promote diversity in their curriculum.

To support this work Partneriaeth is convening a working group from schools and settings across the region. The focus of the working group will be to develop a shared understanding of approaches that support a decolonised, global curriculum. Working group members will develop their own global curriculum and have regular opportunities to share and discuss with each other. Participating schools will also be given opportunities to share their progress more widely. Meetings will be hybrid and dates/venues will be agreed by working group members.
