Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
Target audience: Any practitioner working across the wider education sector.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are “highly stressful, and potentially traumatic, events or situations that occur during childhood and/or adolescence. They can be a single event, or prolonged threats to, and breaches of, the young person’s safety, security, trust or bodily integrity.” (Young Minds, 2018). Having an understanding of the impact ACEs can have on a learner’s ability to engage fully with all aspects of school life help can help schools/settings to remove these barriers.
The Welsh Government asks all schools to consider the impact of ACEs and how schools can provide a safe space for our young people and be prioritised as part of the Whole Schools Approach to Mental and Emotional Well-being.
Schools are able to access high quality training on a consistent termly basis – in a format or in a location that is accessible for them.
Positive feedback from all course delegates.
This one day training programme acts as a spring board to further / deeper training around trauma or training programmes like Emotion Coaching, Sensory Regulation etc.
