Recommended Devices for Digital Notes 

• iPad Air with Apple Pencil

• iPad 10th Gen Bundle

• Already have a tablet you can sign into with your Heartland email? Maybe a Microsoft Surface or other touchscreen laptop or tablet? These options should all work well with Microsoft OneNote and support smooth digital writing.

Please note: I do not recommend the external writing tablets where students write on one surface while looking at another screen. It’s essential that students write directly on the math notes they’re working through, as this helps reinforce understanding and supports the natural connection between brain and hand when learning and applying new math concepts

More Affordable Alternative Option: Paper Notes - If a compatible tablet is not available for digital note-taking, or if a student prefers taking notes on paper, families may print out each unit’s notes, and students can complete them by hand. They will then need to scan or upload clear, legible photos of their handwritten notes to submit to Google Classroom. This method worked in previous years, but I am trying out digital notebooks this year in an attempt to make things easier and more streamlined for families.
