Why is it popular?
FLVS uses video-based learning and the collaboration with teachers is incredible! Students may work at their own pace. There are effective and regular student check-ins via phone or the virtual classroom. Students may also reach their teachers directly through phone, text, and email. For high school students, teachers lead exams online and discussion-based assessments over the phone. Students have access to 30 student clubs.
What do the courses look like?
All of the course material is presented online through sequential lessons. FLVS courses are created to national standards, and include a wide-range of diverse activities, providing an engaging and rigorous learning experience for different learning styles. With interactive games and quizzes, engaging video and audio clips, and practical written lessons and assessments, FLVS courses are thoughtfully designed to help students understand new concepts and master new skills. Students can preview and explore sample lessons here, under “Preview Our Courses”
Once enrolled, each student’s class provides many helpful resources, including a course navigation video, listed on the announcements page. Students will complete a New Student Orientation and discover step-by-steps and video clips on everything they need to be successful. The orientation will include how to get started in class, navigate the student dashboard, submit assignments, use the gradebook, access live lessons, and participate in the discussion-based assessments.
