Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working with Mya.
What materials will you need for your project?
Embroidery machine, shirts, and an iPad
What is your plan to create in this project?
A shirt with our graduating year embroidered
What unique qualities will your project have?
Our shirts will be matching
I created my subpage for this project, created my list of 10 and planning questions.
Mrs. Lynette started teaching us how to use the embriodery machine. She showed us how to thread the needle, start the machine, and how to choose a different font.
We learned how to move a design, change the size of the design, and how to change the hoop. We started experimenting with designs and letters.
We did our designs for our shirts on a separate piece of fabric so we can see how it would look on our shirts. We also had a problem with the thread. The thread kept breaking.
We finished our draft design. Mrs. Lynette and Mr. Renner were experimenting with the machine.
I finished my shirt.
I wrote my refelction and made a video.
Using an embroidery machine, thread and fabric, I created a graduating class shirt that matches with Mya because I wanted to experiment with the embroidery machine. I decided to make a graduating class shirt because it represent our school spirit. My shirt said "class of 2028" but the 0 was a flower.
During this process, I learned the basics of the embroidery machine. With Mrs. Lynette's help she explained the simple aspects of the machine. We had to figure out a lot of things on our own. We had to spend two days just messing with the machine to see how it works.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer because I created a design with a unique piece of equitment. I also had multiple problems that I fixed to make my design better.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the thread breaking. I was able to do it by asking Mr.Renner for help. The problem was simply, the thread was on backwards. After we switched the thread around, we didn't have any problems with the thread.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how I used the stabalizer. The reason why I would change it is because I embroidered my shirt together. I had to cut my shirt apart to get it off the hoop because it was embroidered together.
