Day 1: Today we started to figure out how to use the embroidery machine and we also figured out what we planned on making.
Day 2: Today we started learning more about the machine and we figured out our fabric situation
Day 3: Today we learned more about the machine and to make sure we knew how to use it correctly we attempted to make a little star as something simple. We failed and since we didn't have enough time we had to come back Monday to find our error
Day 4: Today we learned more about the machine along with how the fabric is supposed to lay. We figured this out because when Mr. Renner was helping us take put a knot. We he saw our error and corrected us
Day 5: Today we realized our 2 errors we made before and fixed were : the bobbin's thread having little tension, putting the hoop and fabric on the wrong way, and we didn't realize we needed fabric lining.
Day 6: Today we worked on the individual parts of the project.
Day 7: Today we finalized our drafts for the machine to print.
Day 8: today we could not work with the Embroidery machine because the machine needed a a few changes.
Day 9: Today we yet again had to put off the embroidery machine because the Mr. Renner was not here so we couldn't ask him about using the machine.
Day 10: Today I worked on finding an Embroidery software to make a png file into a embroidery file and I helped my partner
Day 11: Today we embroidered my partners design. In the end we had complications with the bobbin thread so on day 12 we will have to redo/fix it
Day 12: Today we asked for help from an adult and they said we will have to wait until tomorrow because that is when they have more time to look into the machine. Today we also worked on our websites.
Day 13: Today we decided this was taking up too much time and that we will have to come back to this project later on.
For 8p2&3 I have decided to work on this with one of my friends as a partner. What we will be doing is using the Embroidery Machine, Sewing Machine and Computer to create custom bandanas for our dogs. One unique quality the bandanas will have are custom fabrics and designs. Another quality they will hold is decent size. What I mean by this is that they will not be too big nor to small for the dogs.
Using an embroidery machine, computer, usb, and previous knowledge from using similar programs, we created a bandana for a dog because we wanted to get creative and make something cute and unique for the dog.
During this process, I learned many things. One things we learned was how to use an embroidery machine.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I used any and all knowledge I had with sewing machines to grow my knowledge with an embroidery machine.
A challenge I overcame on this project was finding patterns to use because the machine didn't have many ones to our liking to chose from. we were able to do it by .
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the pace we worked at. The reason why I would change it is because even though we were new and had lots of delays due to weather and such, I feel we took a little to long. In the end, this caused us to have to leave the progress standing where it was and come back another time. Another thing I would change is to do a test run instead of going right into the main project. This caused the embroidery to be messed up and not looking how it was intended. Our problem was there was a problem with the tension witch caused the white thread to show on the front side.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the digital multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because I can later on use this new knowledge to create and share new custom embroidery designs for others to get inspired from and or use. My project connects to careers in custom screen printing.
