List Of Ten Good Ideas/Modified
ABii Robot
Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I will be working in a team of two.
What materials will you need for your project?
We will need all the parts and instructions to create the ABii robot.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to create an ABii robot.
What unique qualities will your project have?
Some unique qualities my project will have is it will be able to interact with humans.
Today I started working on the ABii but there was a setback with the lengths of the wires for the motors.
Today we added motors to the motherboard which was a big mess of cords and wires.
Today I added parts of the body and put htem together.
Today I added a lot of parts and completed lots of the body parts to the robot.
Today we finished the robot and tested all the moving parts.
Today I was testing the robot and the audio wasn't working so I had to take the foot apart and try to fox the problem but it didn't work.
Using the bags of parts and instructions, I created an ABii robot because elementary schools needed the interactive robot for students. It took me about a week to complete. The robot has lessons built into it and it can teach students certain lessons by itself.
During this process, I learned how to put together an actual robot. I have never put together an actual robot and I was very excited to start. I also learned the amount of movement and wires that an ABii robot has. It was very cool connecting all the wires to the footboard and motherboard and watching the robot work in front of my eyes.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I am determined to meet my goal I set for myself. I used my computer to find the instructions so I could build the robot step by step. I also used my computer to connect to the ABii robot's wifi so I could test the eyes, voice, and motors.
A challenge I overcame on this project was fixing the speaker. I was able to do it by taking the back of the body off and making sure every wire was connected and in the right place. I found out that one wire was unplugged so I plugged it back in and tested the robot and it worked perfectly fine.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way I tried to fix the speaker. The reason why I would change it is because I didn't take the right piece off to fix the speaker which extended the amount of time I wanted to spend working on the robot. The next day I fixed the speaker and got the robot working fine.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. While I didn't design the robot I put it together and acted like an engineer.
My project connects to careers in Process Engineering because I used a process by building the robot. I used the instructions to build the robot which is a process. I also used my own process by putting things together in the order that made sense to me which was mostly the same as the instructions.
