Today I was introduced to microbits. I learned about the microbit and I made my list of 10 good ideas.
DAY 2
Today I programmed my microbit to spell my name and added the video to my daily log.
Today I programmed my microbit to be a compass. The process partly worked.
DAY 4
Today I programmed my microbit to count my steps.
Today I was absent but the people that were at school programmed the microbits to do a job.
DAY 6
Today I programmed my microbit to tell the temperature in the room.
DAY 7
Today I programmed my microbit to act as a dice. It shows a number 1-6.
Today I was working on planning questions and my paragraph.
Today I was finishing my paragraph and finishing my Microbit project.
Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need a microbit that is assigned to me, an iPad, and my website.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to code my microbit to make different designs and to make it follow directions.
What unique qualities will your project have?
Some unique qualities my project will have are it will be mostly complex programming and cool ideas.
Using microbits, I created more than 10 projects that I coded my microbit to do because programming a microbit is way more fun than I thought once you understand. Programming microbits is hard at first but gets much easier after a couple tries. Microbits are very good tools to learn to code with.
During this process, I learned how to program a microbit to do certain projects I want. My favorite thing to program my microbit to do is count my steps. I thought that only watches could count your steps and I was very surprised to see that the microbit could too.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Digital Citizen because I had to act safely on the internet by myself. Also, I had to manage my online security and make sure I was acting safely online. Finally, I had to follow rules for online websites and school work.
A challenge I overcame on this project was fitting the coding material in on one microbit download. I was able to do it by looking at other projects for microbits and seeing how that person did it. I then tried what they tried and if that didn't work, I tried a new microbit project.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change some of the projects I picked to try. The reason why I would change it is because one of the projects was for a Version 2 microbit. I couldn't do that project because my microbit was version 1 and that project wouldn't work. I had to then find a new project and make sure it wasn't a Version 2 project.
