8P2 - Vending Machine

Using cardboard , I created a mini vending machine because I thought it would be a fun and challenging idea. I created my project in a span of 8 days. I added a little bit of cardboard to my project everyday until it was all finished.

During this process, I learned how to engineer a working coin mechanism. I watched a video on how to create the mechanism and made it my own. I tested my coin mechanism over and over until it finally succeeded in working.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I tested my own ideas. I used online sources to learn an make changes to my ideas. I solved my own problems and adjusted to make my ideas work.

A challenge I overcame on this project was making a working coin mechanism. I was able to do it by using online sources and watching multiple videos to come up with my final idea. I finally came up with my idea and I had to make a couple adjustments to make it complete.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way I started my project. The reason why I would change it is because it took really long to even start my project and come up with ideas. I had to gather information and put it together which took rather long.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. I have engineered a design for my vending machine.

My project connects to careers in Research Engineering because I did research to find my ideas and make them my own. I also had to engineer an idea. I am very confident in my project altogether.
