Dear Parents and Guardians,
Due to health concerns surrounding the Covid 19 virus our district will be on “Distance Learning” until further notice. We understand that this is a stressful time. Not only are you mom or dad, your roles have now changed to include that of teacher. Never forget that you have always been your child’s first and most important teacher.
In order to support your children’s educational progress during this time our preschool ABA teachers and therapists have planned four weeks of instructional activities for your child. These new instructional packets are individualized and align with your child’s current IEP goals and objectives. Each instructional packet includes the following: Discrete Trial Lessons and materials specific to your child’s current assigned Rethink programs.o The lessons provided give a detailed guide on how to run any given program. Rethink’s activity centero Log on the Rethink portal (www.rethinked.com) using your child’s credentialso User Name:o Password:o The activities have been individualized based on your child’s learning goals. Twenty-one lesson plans created by the ABA team.o Each lesson is comprised of a daily read aloud, links to further promote learning, and engaging activities!
As we engage in distance learning, we would like your child to complete activities daily. Consistency is needed for their continued growth. That being said, we understand that each family faces different challenges when it comes to completing these educational programs. We are asking that you do the best you can during these difficult times. Our intent is not to overwhelm you, but to support you.
Some of the teaching techniques we use with your child, may not be ones you are familiar with. This is why our communication is vital. Your child’s teacher and district behaviorists will be contacting you to set up conferences in order to assist in training, answer questions and provide assistance.
We are asking for at least weekly interaction with each of our families, to check on your child’s progress and well-being, and to address any concerns. We want to remind you that your child’s teacher, district behaviorists, and related service therapists are here for your child, and your family during this time. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
As always, thank you for your continued support. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass …it’s learning to dance in the rain”. Stay safe and be well. Never forget that we are #Cometstrong.
Sincerely, Your Preschool ABA Team &
Mrs. Golam, Supervisor of Preschool and Special Education
