Te wiki tuatahi me tuarua
Week one and two
Kia ora. This week we will get to know each other and we will create our mihi/pepeha, learn about why they are important and create a visual to help us remember our mihi. We will also learn to ask and answer questions about ourselves in te reo Māori. Those that have a mihi that they have crafted with Whaea Kylie will add more detail to enhance their mihimihi
We will use the information in the slideshow (below), along with talking with whaea, to each create our own individual mihi. We will then show our mihi in a visual way. We will use this information to learn to ask and aanswer questions about family in te reo Māori.
COMPLETED by the end of week two.
If you already have a mihimihi think about the following:
What other information do you want to say in your introduction?
Add a whakataukī or learn a new one so you have choices to suit different occasions.
Once you have worked out the new information you want to add, write out your pepeha in full on a document.
Find a picture online of your Maunga and your marae, sketch these or some patterns to represent these along with your awa and waka in your pukapuka. If you don't whakapapa Māori, find some pictures (or print out and draw) that represent your whānau.
Goal: Introduce ourselves in te reo Māori, ask and answer questions about whānau in te reo Māori
