GOAL:
Participate in the recitation of a karakia at a hui. Participation in karakia recitation is done in a manner consistent with the intent of the karakia.
Karakia is chosen for its relevance to the kaupapa of the hui or to the purpose of the karakia. A karakia timataka, karakia kai and a karakia whakakapi. Words of karakia are pronounced correctly in accordance with te reo Māori.
Choose your karakia, Kai Tahu would be best choice in our takiwā if you can find any (try using k dialect). Not an inoi/amine karakia to ihu karaiti or Ariki.
Try to find who was the original writer/composer of the karakia.
Learn and practise the karakia. You will need a beginning, kai and end karakia.
Know when the karakia will happen during hui - create a schedule for the videographer to follow so all karakia and waiata can be captured for evidence.
Run the hui and successfully karakia.
