Te Kura Tuarua o Māwhera
Kahikatea can't stand on their own so they spread their roots and intertwine them with other kahikatea roots to keep themselves and others stable. We believe that this symbolised that the class is a safe space for students where we can help each other and lean on others in the class for support if needed. Ngāhere means forest, and we were going to use that, but then we realised that it would be even better if we used Ngā Here, which is more referring to being tied together like Kahikatea - we are each other's strength. We thought that this symbolises all of the student’s connections with each other and it reinforces the idea of students being able to lean on each other for help and support. The reason for this is since the kahikatea can't stand on their own so they need help from each other and we can get help from each other if we cant do something on our own.
