Course Description
Students who take Body Toning will have the opportunity to learn various ways to sculpt their body through the latest and up to date techniques relating to low impact aerobics. This class will include yoga, pilates, medicine ball/dome workouts, resistance bands, exercise balls, and water aerobics. This course is a great way to gain the skills and the lifetime disposition for physical fitness and wellness.
Essential Learning Goals
1. Standard 3: 40%
The student will demonstrate the knowledge and skills to achieve a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness. (cont’d)

The student will exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
3. Standard 2: 35%
The student will apply knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics related to movement performance.
Major Assessment Evidence and Success Criterion
1.Demonstration of student engagement/participation in daily class activities.
2 Demonstration of citizenship on a daily basis through participation in class activities.
3. Students will set a nutritional goal and fitness goals at the beginning of the semester that will help guide them through their fitness journey.
4. Students will engage in reflective writing throughout the semester pertaining to their goals that the student sets at the beginning of the semester.
5. Students will dive deeper into the benefits of certain yoga poses.
Key Course Learning Experiences
Students who elect to take Body Toning will be introduced to a variety of exercises that will help them reach their fitness goals. This class is designed to help students step outside of their comfort zone and try new exercises that challenge the mind and body. Upon completion of this course students should feel very confident attending a group fitness class (Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, Boot Camp, Interval Class, Water Aerobics, High Low aerobics) or using the gym equipment (medicine balls, resist-a-balls, bosu balls, hurdles). This class has helped students create healthy habits and has encouraged them to continue their lifelong fitness journey.
